X-Rays

Even if you teeth look healthy, there may still be decay under the enamel, possible infection in the root or bone loss around the tooth, which would show up on an x-ray. Detecting these problems early could save you time and money in the long run. An x-ray is taken for most new patients to access the condition of your mouth and check for hidden problems. After this x-rays will only need to be taken when necessary. At our practice we use state-of-the-art digital x-rays, meaning we can see your x-ray instantly.

We can tell a lot about the condition of your teeth just by looking inside your mouth, but sometimes they need to look a bit deeper. X-rays are a vital tool for us, as they can enable us to spot problems before you start to feel any pain or discomfort. They can also be used for something as simple as finding out whether or not you need a filling.

As only a small amount of radiation used is for dental x-rays. You must inform us if you are pregnant or if you think you might be pregnant and discuss further with your dentist.

Radiation is around us all the time (background radiation). Two bitewing (side) x-rays would be the equivalent of eight hours exposed to ordinary background radiation, or the same amount of radiation from a return flight to Spain.
